I've been having issues updating to iOS 6.1 on my fifth generation iPod touch. I initially tried downloading the update on the device, but it doesn't successfully verify, giving the error:
Unable to Verify Update
iOS 6.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet.
Since I'm connected to the Internet fine, and am able to load webpages in Safari just fine, this really isn't the issue. But, I reluctently connected my iPod to my laptop and try to update through iTunes, only to be greeted with this error:
The iPod "Matthew's iPod" could not be updated. This device isn't eligble for the requested build.
The only thing that I can put it down to is an issue on Apple's side with the update. I'm only making a stab in the dark, but it seems like Apple's verification servers don't recognise that the update is designed for the fifth generation iPod touch. Or maybe it isn't. Or maybe my theory is completely wrong.
Anyway, my iPod can't update, no matter how hard I try. Does anyone have any solutions to my problem? Is anyone else experiencing my problem, or am I alone?
