My itunes doesn't recognize my ipod touch because I've never connected it before and it is disabled, it won't let me restore it, it says to enter a passcode in order to connect and I can't because it is disabled

My ipod touch 4th gen is disabled. When I connect to itunes it says that it is locked and I must enter the code. How do I undo the disabled ipod?
