can i trade in my 2nd generation itouch for a refurbished ipod nano?

Apple says:

Recycle your iPod at the Apple Retail Store. Bring your old iPod to an Apple Retail Store and receive a 10 percent discount on the purchase of a new iPod.*

Note the word 'new" before iPod. I would say no but I would call/go to an Apple store and ask.
