itunes won't recognize 2generation ipod touch, although computer does

9:41 AM 2generation, Although, computer, iTunes, recognize, touch No comments

My son's ipod is a 2generation 8g ipod touch... It hasn't been turned on for awhile so it lost its charge. I was able to charge it but itunes won't recognize the device. My computer does (which run on windows 7) Any suggestions?
