How to transfer videos from my computer to ipod touch (4g model)?

hello.. need some help here....

 

i am using ipod touch 16GB (4g model) with OS 6.1 (latest).. and i am unable to transfer videos to ipod  from my computer?

each and every time i try to transfer the video, it gives an error somthing like that "video file cannot be opened in the ipod"

Is there a way in which i can make the videos on my computer compatiable so that it can easly be transfred to the ipod touch..??
